U.S. researchers said Wednesday they had identified an “on-off” switch in the brain that controls the emotional response to fear, and said it might some day be manipulated to help patients with anxiety disorders.

Yeah, I'm sure helping people with anxiety disorders is going to be the prime motivator of the government when it tries to learn more about this interesting find.

And not, say, the ability to induce fearless soldiers or narcotize it's populace.

Perish the thought.
